Cavendish Sprints to Victory in Stage 6 of Giro d'Italia 2013

Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) has won Stage 6 of the Giro d'Italia. Cavendish took a bunch sprint to win the flat, 169-km run from Mola di Bari to Margherita di Savoia in 3:56:03. Elia Viviani (Cannondale) finished second, and Matthew Goss (Orica-GreenEdge) took third. Luca Paolini (Katusha) remains the maglia rosa.

Degenkolb Wins Stage 5 of Giro d'Italia 2013

John Degenkolb (Argos-Shimano) has won Stage 5 of the Giro d'Italia in a crash-marred uphill sprint. The German dusted the field to win the 203-km ride from Cosenza to Matera in 4:37:48. Angel Vicioso (Katusha) finished second, and Paul Martens (Blanco) took third. Luca Paolini, Vicioso's teammate, remains the maglia rosa.

The Italian veteran surged away from the lead group on the day's final climb and held on to win the hilly, 222-km ride from Sorrento to Marina di Ascea, in 5:43:50. Cadel Evans (BMC) outsprinted defending champion Ryder Hesjedal (Garmin-Sharp) at 0:16. Paolini is the new maglia rosa.
