Earlier today the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced it has decided to uphold Team Katusha's appeal of the International Cycling Union's (UCI) decision not to issue a WorldTour license to the Russian team.

As expected Russian team Katusha has filed a lawsuit against the International Cycling Union (UCI) with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne.

We analyze possible motives behind the UCI's exclusion of Katusha Team from the 2013 WorldTour, which has left Katusha in a cold and bleak midwinter of discontent. We look at possible effects of the exclusion of Team Katusha and the inclusion of Argos-Shimano and Saxo-Tinkoff.
