Froome Takes Stage 5 and Overall Lead in Criterium du Dauphine Libere

Chris Froome (Team Sky) has taken the lead in the Dauphine Libere. The Briton surged away from the group of favorites to overtake Alberto Contador (Saxo Bank-Tinkoff) and Matthew Busche (RadioShack-Leopard) and win Stage 5, a mountainous, 139-km ride from Gresy-sur-Aix to Valmorel, in 3:28:39. Contador outsprinted Busche for second at 0:04.

Boasson Hagen Wins Stage 3 of Dauphine Libere

Edvald Boasson Hagen (Team Sky) has won Stage 3 of the Criterium du Dauphine Libere 2013. The Norwegian took a bunch sprint to win the rolling, 167-km ride from Amberieu-en-Bugey to Tarare in 4:03:32. Michael Matthews (GreenEdge) pipped Gianni Meersman (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) for second. David Veilleux (Europcar) remains the overall leader.

The British squad powered over the hilly, 17.4-km course from Ischia to Forio, winning the 2013 Giro's team time trial in 22:05, Sky was 0:09 faster than runnerup Movistar, with Astana taking third at 0:14. Salvatore Puccio (Sky) is the new maglia rosa.
