Kwiatkowski Crushes Volta ao Algarve Time Trial and Extends GC Lead

Michal Kwiatkowski (Omega Pharma-QuickStep) won by an overwhelming margin in today's 13.6 kilometer stage 3 individual time trial of the 2014 Volta ao Algarve in Portugal. Kwiatkowski won by 11 seconds over Team Movistar's Adriano Malori and finished 13 seconds faster than teammate World Time Trial Champion Tony Martin of Germany.

The Belgian squad beat back GreenEdge by an eyelash to win the gold medal on the flat, 56.8-km course from Montecatini Terme to Florence, Italy in 1:04:16.81. The Australian team settled for silver at 0.81, and Sky took the bronze at 22.85.

Zdenek Stybar (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) has won Stage 7 of the Vuelta a Espana 2013. Stybar took a two-up sprint from world road race champion Philippe Gilbert (Team BMC Racing) to win the rolling, 205.9-km ride from Almendralejo to Mairena de Aljafare in 4:51:27. Robert Wagner (Belkin) won the sprint for third at 0:01. Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) remains the red jersey.
