Visma-Lease a Bike Reveals Line-Up for Vuelta a Espana 2025

Team Visma-Lease a Bike will send a strong roster to the 2025 Vuelta a Espana spearheaded by Jonas Vingegaard

Team Visma-Lease a Bike is sending a strong line-up to the 2025 Vuelta a Espana. The team’s Vuelta roster is spearheaded by Jonas Vingegaard, who disappointingly finished second in this year’s Tour de France and will be fighting for redemption in this year’s Vuelta.

The proud Dane has worked relentlessly on further optimizing his form and abilities on both a physiological and psychological level since the conclusion of the Tour de France. Vingegaard lost the duel against Tadej Pogacar in the Tour de France and will arrive at the start line of the Vuelta in Turin with the sole ambition of earning a general classification victory in La Vuelta a Espana for the first time in his impressive career.

“I am looking very much forward to this year’s Tour of Spain. Following the Tour, I first used the opportunity to take some rest. I then started my preparations for this next main goal of my season,” Vingegaard explained to Roadcycling.com.

“I’m racing La Vuelta for the overall win. I have been in an individual training camp in recent weeks while receiving support from the team on site. The Vuelta is special to me because it was my first Grand Tour of my career. In 2023 I stood on the final podium with my teammates in Madrid and I hope we can fight our way to additional great memories in this year’s race,” Vingegaard continued.

Vingegaard and the rest of the Visma-Lease a Bike is expected to be exposed to fierce competition from UAE Team Emirates in this year’s Vuelta as the UAE Team Emirates line-up includes strong riders such as Joao Almeida, Juan Ayuso, Marc Soler, and Jay Vine.

Jonas Vingegaard will be supported by powerful and experienced lieutenants Matteo Jorgenson and Sepp Kuss who are both expected to deliver valuable support in toughest mountain terrain. Jorgenson won this year’s Paris-Nice and finished nineteenth in the GC of this year’s Tour while managing to finish fifth in two stages while supporting Vingegaard. Kuss has won the Vuelta a Espana on a previous occasion, though he has had a disappointing 2025 season this far.

In addition to five mountain stages, this year’s Vuelta a Espana also includes a team time trial. The team has, therefore, included strong time trial experts in its roster, to offer valuable support for Vingegaard in the influential racing discipline. Victor Campenaerts is strong in the race against the clock and will also offer valuable support and experience in the flat sections of other stages. Ben Tullett is also a strong time trialist, while other roster members are also decent in the neglected discipline. 33-year-old Dylan van Baarle is an experienced allrounder and Wilco Kelderman can also contribute in a broad variety of terrain types.

“The overall victory is our big goal and there’s no need to be coy about that. Jonas is our leader and our biggest chance of achieving the overall victory,” Visma-Lease a Bike Head of Racing Grischa Niermann explained. “With Sepp Kuss we have a former winner at the star and Matteo Jorgenson has recovered well after the Tour de France. With Tulett, Campenaerts, van Baarle and Zingle we have a team that can support our leader in any terrain,” Niermann added.

Team Visma-Lease a Bike line-up for Vuelta a Espana 2025:

Jonas Vingegaard, Axel Zingle, Victor Campenaerts, Matteo Jorgenson, Wilco Kelderman, Sepp Kuss, Dylan van Baarle, and Ben Tulett.
