Stage 6 of Paris-Nice Cancelled due to Adverse Weather Conditions

Race organizer cancels stage 6 of Paris-Nice 2023

Race organizer A.S.O. today announced the cancellation of stage 6 of this year’s Paris-Nice because of harsh weather conditions that would have put riders and other members of the professional cycling peloton in danger.

“After reviewing several options for modifying the route and waiting for an improvement in weather conditions in the afternoon, the organisers of Paris-Nice have decided to cancel the 6th stage to preserve the safety of the riders of the 81st edition, in agreement with local authorities. The exceptionally violent winds, which notably caused several treefalls in the region, make the cancellation of the stage inevitable,” race organizer A.S.O. said in a statement to the press.

The cyclists will spend today relaxing and riding on indoor home trainers.

Racing action at this year’s Paris-Nice will resume on Saturday with the 142.9-kilometer mountainous stage 6 from Nice to Col de la Couillole.
