Ineos-Grenadiers Announces Line-Up for Vuelta a Espana 2025

Team Ineos-Grenadiers to start the 2025 Vuelta a Espana with Egan Bernal as team captain

Team Ineos-Grenadiers will start the 2025 Vuelta a Espana with the grand ambition of obtaining a top result in the general classification for team captain Egan Bernal. The team has selected its eight riders for the roster, which will start the third and final Grand Tour of the season in Turin, Italy on August 23.

Colombian Egan Bernal finished seventh in this year’s Giro d’Italia and is arriving at the start line of this year’s Vuelta in top form, as he finished sixth in the general classification of Vuelta a Burgos earlier this month. Bernal is Colombian national champion and won the Tour de France in 2019 and the Giro d’Italia in 2021.

“I’m grateful for having been granted the opportunity of leading the Ineos-Grenadiers team at this year’s Vuelta a Espana. The Vuelta is a race that always delivers aggressive and unpredictable racing, which is what I enjoy the most,” Bernal explained to Roadcycling.com.

“My preparation for this year’s Vuelta has been good, and we can be confident of achieving great things in race with the team we’re bringing, which includes a mixture of Grand Tour winners, strong support riders – and riders eager to show themselves on the roads of Spain. I’m happy the race starts in Italy, and it gives me additional motivation as I have experienced many special moments racing there,” Bernal continued.

The Ineos-Grenadiers roster also includes Filippo Ganna (Italy), Michal Kwiatkowski (Poland), Magnus Sheffield (USA), Brandon Rivera (Colombia), Doncaster’s Ben Turner (Great Britain), Victor Langellotti (Monaco), and Bob Jungels (Luxembourg).

Brandon Rivera and Ben Turner are intended to provide crucial climbing support for Bernal in the mountains. Magnus Sheffield can offer help in a multitude of terrain types and Bob Jungels is a useful allrounder. Former World Champion Michal Kwiatkowski has had a very disappointing season so far and the Polish rider is handed this opportunity to prove his worth and fight for a contract extension.

Filippo Ganna will target personal success in the individual time trial (stage 18) and deliver valuable power to the team in the stage 5 team time trial. The Italian national time trial champion will also be valuable on flat stretches – including if splits occur in the peloton. A crash in stage 1 of this year’s Tour de France forced him to abandon the race very early.

Victor Langellotti has delivered some noteworthy performances after arriving from Team Burgos-BH. Langellotti is an avid climber and hills specialist and won a stage in this year’s Tour de Pologne. He finished fifth in the GC of the same race and second in the GC of this year’s Tour of Norway.

The Ineos-Grenadiers team will again feature TotalEnergies as a third team sponsor as it did in this year’s Tour de France and it remains to be seen if the French energy company will be joining the team as team sponsor on a more permanent basis from 2026.

“The Vuelta always produces racing outcomes that are difficult to predict, and our chosen squad gives us a variety of options in the twenty-one stages,” Ineos-Grenadiers performance director Dr. Scott Drawer explained. “Egan comes into the race as our leader, well-supported by a group that mixes climbing strength, time trial power, and experience. It’s a team that can fight for opportunities throughout the race in a style that has been consistent with our approach in both the Giro and Tour de France this year,” Drawer added.

Team Ineos-Grenadiers roster for Vuelta a Espana 2025:

Egan Bernal, Ben Turner, Michal Kwiatkowski, Filippo Ganna, Bob Jungels, Brandon Rivera, Magnus Sheffield, and Victor Langellotti.

The team’s line-up originally included Lucas Hamilton, but illness forced the Australian rider to cancel his race participation shortly before the start.
