2006 Tour de France - Stage 20

Ok, it?s time for professional journalists to step up to the plate. I?ve predicted all along an American would win the Tour. I?m going with Chris Horner. I think he will surprise everyone and make up over 2 hours today in the mountains. Landis will probably hold on and come in second. It?s about time I show those French journalists how smart I really am!

It is a bittersweet day for Floyd and Team Phonak. They unfortunately lose Robbie Hunter. He missed the time cut yesterday and was reportedly hampered by saddle sores. The mood looks cheerful as the ?race? on the last day strolls along. Congratulations are coming and going. The unique camaraderie from within the peloton shows the world what sportsmanship is about. McEwen pushes his domestique across the sprint line in appreciation of his teammate?s efforts. Now look, the old man Ekimov is rolling onto the Champs-Elysees leading the peloton. A sincere show of respect to a true champion. Is this our last look at Eki in Le Tour?

You know how it is when you?re out on a Sunday group ride. There?s always someone who turns it into a race. They think they?re in the Tour de France or something. The tone changes from mellow to mayhem. The Ferrari?s, Porsche?s, VW?s, and Subaru?s are going 100 miles an hour! Look, we see Eki again! Now there?s another guy with gigantic white sunglasses named George. They are from a team called Discovery Channel. They must be new this year. Looks like they could have some potential in years to come. McEwen wants to be first but the God of thunder strikes! Thor booms by Robbie to win on the big street in Paris. My man Horner let me down. I?m so stupid to miss that prediction.

Team Phonak has presented us with a winner. I was right about him being an American. Way to go Floyd! Congrats to you and Bert Grabsch, Victor Hugo Pena, Robert Hunter, Nicholas Jalabert, Koos Moerenhout, Axel Merckx, and Alexandre Moos.

The passion in us all isn?t settled. It makes us proud, humble, angry, sad, elated, and crazy! So, from the passion within, I bid you farewell with these final words, USA 8 - France 0!
