Chris Froome Extends Contract

Christopher Froome has extended his contract with Team Sky Pro Cycling ahead of this year's Tour de France

Earlier today it was announced three-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome has signed a new contract with his Sky team, extending his commitment until the end of the 2020 season.

According to Froome himself, it has been "an easy decision" for him to extend the stay with his current Sky squad.

"I've been at Team Sky since we began back in 2010 and for me it's home," Froome explained when asked to comment on his contract extension."

"I'm really happy here with Sky and excited that I'll be with Team Sky for at least the next three years."

"It's been a really successful partnership and I think one of the big reasons for this is the consistency and stability of the team. For me as a professional rider this is really important as it means you can just get on with your job and focus on winning bike races without having to worry about the future."

"The Tour de France wins we have achieved together have been a big part of the team's history. Now I'm looking forward to being a big part of Team Sky's future," Froome concluded.

Froome will line up at the start line of Tour de France 2017 in Germany's Düsseldorf on Saturday seeking a landmark fourth Tour de France victory and a third consecutive Tour win.
