Rudy Project Kerosene Premium sunglasses

Reviewed by:

Once again Rudy Project has introduced a new product: The Kerosene Premium sunglasses.

We were very excited to get the opportunity to test these new sunglasses as last year's Rudy Project Tayo sunglasses were almost perfect. We only had few suggestions for improvements and were interested in finding out if Rudy Project had managed to implement these changes in their new Kerosene Premium sunglasses.

Rudy Project Kerosene sunglasses Packaging is eye catching and durable. Inside is a "taco shell" hard case that can accommodate the glasses and an extra set of lenses, which can be left in their protective sheath. There is a keying/lanyard attachment on the edge of the case. A colored pamphlet is included that has a detailed description of the available lenses and what degree of light is transmitted by each. The pamphlet describes specific applications that are appropriate for many light conditions. Also included is a technical information and safety pamphlet. The directions pamphlet instructs how to adjust the noise piece and the tension on the temples.

Styling is immediately eye catching and space age looking. They are described as having racy lines and colors. The satin finish, vents, multicolors, and textures highlighted the features of the glasses. The texture and color of the logo is jewel like.

"Other cyclists raved about their looks and wanted to know where to buy a pair. Several "proposals" were made to swap the Kerosene's for "brand x". No amount of begging made us give up our Kerosene's!"

Putting on a pair of Rudy Project's brings your attention to the suburb clarity of the non-scratching lenses. Our testers used the laser blue, yellow, racing red, and transparent lenses. Conditions ranged from bright light, low sun position lighting, overcast, and raining. It was never required to change lenses to maintain safe vision. The laser blue lenses allowed the wearer to accurately determine colors, distinguish shapes, see obstacles, and potential hazards even while facing directly into the sun. While riding in the rain, there was never a problem with fogging or visibility. The water seemed to shed from the lenses. Changing the lenses while riding was an easy task. They popped in and out with ease yet secured without a doubt with a positive snap. It makes the optional lenses a practical, realistic, and useable feature.

The vent controller was also a functional feature for ventilation, coverage, and fogging. While riding, they could be closed and opened with your index fingers and thumbs. One reviewer found the vents to be too tight to be able to open and close while riding without the fear of crashing. If it was cold or raining, the vents were kept closed. If it were warm or slow climbs, the vents would be open. During a humid and slightly warm spring day, one of our reviewers entered a country store for a break. Upon sitting down at the table, they started to fog. Rather than take them off, the vents were opened and the lenses quickly cleared. During wear, the cyclist was always looking through the lenses. This was regardless of being in the drops, on the hoods, on the tops, standing, or looking to the side. At no point did the frame obstruct vision even while looking behind - a major improvement from last year's Tayo sunglasses

Adjustment was a no brainer! The noise piece can be moved in all directions to fit and be comfortable. The function of it was simple, practical, and yet sturdy. The temples were as easy to conform and fit comfortably. After a few minutes for proper adjustment, the megolŪ nosepiece and temples held the glasses comfortably in place without sliding or becoming loose. It didn't matter if it was hot, cold, wet, dry, windy, or bumpy roads, they STAYED in place. A reviewer shook his head side to side to relieve tension in his neck and the glasses held their place.

In summary, the best testament to their comfort and function, is not knowing you have them on.

After nearly two months and about 1800 miles, they clean up with a little soap and water and look brand new. They have remained durable and defect free.

After last years Tayo's, Rudy Project has again raised the standard by producing a quality and functional pair of eyewear in the Kerosene. Rudy Project is indeed "Technically Cool Eyewear". The Kerosene's are perfect.
