Pearl Izumi Greptile glove

The unique feature of the Greptile glove is the special fabric on the palm that helps to reduce slip on the bars. This "Greptile" fabric is almost like fine grit sandpaper. The base of the palm area and the fingertips still has quality leather while the back of the glove is spandex. An adjustable Velcro closure keeps it snug on the wrist. The back of the thumb area is soft terry cloth, which is handy for wiping high dollar sunglasses or a runny nose!
My gloves were an attractive bright blue with a black and white strip incorporating the Pearl Izumi logo. To me, the stripe added to the attractiveness of the glove and the logo wasn't overbearing.
It always seems that the padding in the glove is the biggest problem are. Some are too bulky while others don't seem to provide any comfort. The padding in this glove was very comfortable. I discovered it is no ordinary foam. Pearl Izumi uses "moshi" foam, which molds to your grip yet returns to its original shape. I'm not sure if this molding process takes some breaking in, as my gloves seemed a little stiff. However, the comfort outweighed that.
I didn't use the Greptiles with the recommended Greptile grip tape. The feel on my cork provided sufficient friction and I don't recall having problems with my hands slipping off the bars. It would be interesting to use the Greptile tape in conjunction with the gloves and may be a good thing to keep your hands from pulling off during climbs and sprints.
Pearl Izumi is no stranger to quality clothing for cycling and the technology into the Greptile gloves adds to that. I appreciate the quality and details such as the solid stitching around the finger openings. The bottom line is comfort followed by good style and Pearl Izumi is on target with the Greptile glove.
