On the road the jersey performed very well, being slow to take on perspiration and quick to dry once I was in a full sweat. The weave is such that the jersey offers adequate protection when the temperatures are below optimum or wind is up. On warmer days I found the jersey superior at wicking moisture to keep me dry. Three rear pockets were generously sized and easy to reach. Full zip with a larger than normal zipper pull made venting to adjust to changes in temp a breeze, no pun intended. Both outside pocket seams have a small strip of reflective material which is a nice, subtle safety feature. Rubberized elastic in the sleeve cuffs and along the bottom back kept things in place on the road. Although graphics are obviously subjective criteria, I found the look to be stylish and attractive.

The Rudy Project race bib shorts were an excellent complement to the race jersey. In my opinion, the comfort and performance of the chamois pad is really the essential inquiry in judging cycling shorts or bibs. In this regard, the Rudy Project bibs excelled. The chamois is constructed of layers of foam and outer-materials which vary in thickness and shape to conform perfectly to the anatomy. The main contact points between rider and saddle are generously padded and very comfortable. The chamois's outer material is soft and perforated polyester which was very breathable on the road. According to Rudy Project, the material is also "naturally anti-bacterial," which is a bonus for reasons which need not be dwelled upon.

The fit was similar to the race jersey, which is to say standard Italian. The leg length was on the short side, which was fine, but took some getting used to after riding with leg warmers most of the spring. I doubt Rudy Project had a "summer" short in mind, but the shorter inseam does favor warmer riding conditions in my opinion. Standard rubberized stripping in the leg openings provided secure and stable positioning. Small strips of reflecting material on both sides of the back and a small gel pocket sewn into the mid back are both subtle but thoughtful features of these great bibs.

Material, construction, fit, and quality are all exceptional, which is another reason to shop Rudy Project. They aren't just sunglasses anymore.
