Ibex Women's El Fito 3/4 Bike Knickers Review

Ibex Women's El Fito 3/4 Cycling Knickers Review

The air was cold and a bit damp this spring, the wind was blowing and I didn't want to leave my fresh coffee and warm biscuits.  But then I put on Ibex's El Fito 3/4 Cycling Shorts and with the warmth I felt, the elements looked less condemning and actually became somewhat inviting. For those chilly rides, these knickers cannot be beat.

Ibex is renowned for its New Zealand Merino wool, comfort, durability and their excellent craftsmanship. These knickers are no exception to the quality you have come to expect from this company. Utilizing a renewable natural resource, Ibex converts what some may remember as a scratchy material, into one of the softest and most comfortable fabrics. Nylon and lycra are added for stretchability and snuggability, which we have come to expect in biking clothing. This provides a perfect combination for wicking away moisture and keeping one warm, but not too hot.

The garment form-fits to your body because of the 13-panel construction. Thoughtfulness in design is evident. Protection where needed the most was incorporated by the water and wind resistant Climawool Lite knee front.  At the same time, there are areas of maximum breathability under the seat and behind the knee. This garment stretches so nicely with each pedal stroke. In addition, a 4-way stretch, seamless liquicell chamois with progressive ergonomic ischiatic support (editor's note: Dr. Shauer knows her anatomy) provides just the right amount protection and comfort. This ¾ pant is durable enough for the mountain bike trails, yet formfitted enough for the road: versatile and sturdy.

The best aspect of these pants is the Merino wool.  Put them on and they provide instant warmth to get you started. They help you cool as you heat up on the ride. And again keep you warm when you are done despite areas of wetness. I challenge you to find a more completely useful fabric for this purpose made of cotton, polyester, Lycra, or nylon. Thank you Ibex!

In addition, Ibex stands behind everything they make. It's their promise. When I received the pants I requested they were too big for me. I contacted Ibex and without question, they were accommodating, efficient, and professional in their exchange. This is an American company with products made in the USA that lives up to their promise!
