Team Orica-Scott Bikes for Tour de France

A look at the bikes that will be used by Team Orica-Scott in this year's Tour de France

Team Orica-Scott arrives at this year's Tour de France hoping to secure the team some general classification glory in a Grand Tour.

Esteban Chaves and Simon Yates will be the Orica-Scott team's leaders in the race and Roadcycling.com takes a look at the bikes, which the team is hoping will give the riders the additional edge they need to finish the Tour de France in top position.

Riders can choose between the aerodynamic Scott Foil RC bike for flat and windy stages, the ultralight Addict RC for climbing, and the Plasma bike for the two time trials.

Aerodynamics needed? Answer: Scott Foil RC

The Scott Foil RC used by the Orica-Scott Team is linked to Scott's actual inline RC model. The pro rider bikes are mainly specced with Syncros and Shimano parts and the RC design represents Scott's Racing Concept - a one hundred percent race-dedicated line that includes both bikes and head-to-toe gear.

The Foil RC is a race machine fully equipped with all features that make this bike truly outstanding. Analysis conducted by Scott shows the fully integrated Syncros aero cockpit offers the best aerodynamic results under all types of conditions. Both the beautifully integrated Shimano Di2 groupset and the one-of-a-kind seatpost construction are some of the best integrations we've seen to date.

With a frame weight of 945g and an average fork weight of 335g Scott's racing spearhead is one of the lightest aero bikes on the market. The first Foil version quickly gained a reputation for being very stiff and responsive with regards to power transfer and handling. The current Foil exhibits even more stiffness and responsiveness than its predecessor.

Low weight required for climbing? Answer: Scott Addict RC Di2

The Scott Addict RC Di2 used in this year's Tour de France comes equipped with a HMX Carbon Fiber frame and fork that weigh in at just 790/300g. It is the preferable bike for Team Orica-Scott in mountainous terrain and loved by both Esteban Chaves and Simon Yates. With the addition of a Shimano Dura Ace Di2 electronic drivetrain and a slew of other high-end Carbon components, Scott has created a featherweight yet strong and efficient machine for its team.
