Prestaratchet Review

There's a new twist to bike tools and the heart of it is the Prestaratchet and bit kit.

There's a new twist to bike tools and the heart of it is the Prestaratchet and bit kit. It presents a new approach to bike repairs on the road and in the shop. This 1/4 inch drive can't be found in the chain store at the mall. Don't let the 28 gram, 4 inch size fool you. The hardened smooth steel is definitely not from a rough casting. The rubber and plastic handle is very comfortable and the feel in the hand is a natural fit.

Using the Prestaratchet is like any other. Control tightening and loosing by the small lever which never got in the way. The knurled wheel on the head of the ratchet enabled precise finger control when needed. I had good feedback even in cold weather while wearing full fingered gloves.  It didn't slip either when I had sweaty palms. I was amazed by amount of torque I could apply without it digging into my skin. I was able to take out 3 inch deck screws.

The bits were also precision cut and held secure even when fasteners got hard to turn. You could tell they were high quality steel and didn't sheer or round over. The extension got my hands away from the work, enabling me to see what I was doing. The bit kit, with its socket adapter, allowed use of any ¼ in socket. The rubber belt- like holder permitted you to trim it for your personal favorites and weight you wanted to carry. The ratchet and bits were small enough to carry in your jersey pocket or seat back. They never rattled.

With the Prestaracthet and bit kit, it would only take a chain breaker and spoke wrench to fulfill all your basic mechanic needs. Their use applies to around the house, garage, and camper. Buy several!

For the man/woman who has everything, GET them the Prestaratchet and bit kit, it will work wonders.
