Van Heeswijk Wins Stage 4 of Andalucian Tour

Max Van Heeswijk (U.S. Postal Service-Berry Floor) has won his second stage of this year's Tour of Andalucia.

Max Van Heeswijk (U.S. Postal Service-Berry Floor) has won his second stage of this year's Tour of Andalucia. The Dutch sprinter took Stage 4, a 159.3-km ride from Lucena to Jaen in 4:03:05. Nico Mattan (Relax-Bodysol) finished second, and Peter Van Petegem (Lotto-Domo) finished third. Juan Carlos Dominguez (Saunier Duval) remains the overall leader.

About halfway through the stage, Rolf Aldag (T Mobile), Adolfo Garcia Quesada (Comunitat Valenciana-Kelme), and David Etxebarria and Dioni Galparsoro (both from Euskaltel) went off of the front. With Quesada only 0:15 behind Dominguez on GC, the Saunier Duval-led peloton kept the escapees on a short leash. Rabobank, which was trying to set up Oscar Freire, took over from Saunier Duval, and the bunch caught the break in the closing km. The stage came down to a sprint, which van Heeswijk won.

In the overall, Dominguez leads Quesada by 0:15 and Samuel Sanchez (Euskaltel) by 0:19. The fifth and concluding stage will be a 186-km run from La Zubia to Almeria. Dominguez seems poised to win the race. Check in at http://www.roadcycling.com/ and find out if he does it!
