Team Argos-Shimano secures new title sponsor for 2014

Earlier today Team Argos-Shimano announced that a new company will replace Argos as title sponsor starting from January 1, 2014.

A yet-to-be-announced brand will take over the title sponsorship from Argos, while Shimano will remain the second title sponsor during the 2014 season.

According to a spokesman from Team Argos-Shimano, the identity of the new title sponsor will be revealed in the next few weeks. The new title sponsor has decided to sponsor the team from 2014-2016.

"Very recently, a company expressed interest in taking over the main sponsorship. The new sponsor is a good fit with our ambitious team goals," Team Argos-Shimano General Manager Iwan Spekenbrink explained.

"We would like to thank Argos for supporting the team and enabling it to reach its current level, and for giving us the space to further develop our project with our new major partner. We are also grateful to our new sponsor for expressing such confidence in our organization, athletes and staff and in the vision for top sports and pro cycling upon which our organization is based," Spekenbrink added.

"We will soon announce our look and feel, jersey, and ambitions for next year, together with our new partner."

Team Argos-Shimano has had a very successful 2013 season peaking with Marcel Kittel's stage victories and yellow jersey in the Tour de France in July.
