Michaelsen Wins Stage 2 of Four Days of Dunkirk

Lars Michaelsen (CSC) has won Stage 2 of the Four Days of Dunkirk.

Lars Michaelsen (CSC) has won Stage 2 of the Four Days of Dunkirk. The Danish sprinter took a bunch gallop to win the 200.9-km ride from Sin-le-Noble to Bapaume in 4:36:55. Jaan Kirsipuu (Ag2r) finished second, and Rudi Kemna (Bankgiroloterij) took third. Stage 1 winner Frederic Finot (Jean Delatour) remains the overall leader.

From the start, the pace was fast. Credit Agricole and Cofidis rode hard tempo to discourage attacks. With 30 km remaining, Jean Delatour went to the front to protect Finot. During the final km, the sprinters' teams took over. Michaelsen bested Kirsipuu and Kemna easily.

In the overall, Finot leads Stephane Berges (Ag2r) by 0:06 and Michaelsen by 2:11. Stage 3 should see Finot stay in the lead. The 191.4-km course has few challenges.
