Konig Notches First Grand Tour Stage Win for NetApp-Endura
NetApp-Endura has taken its first Grand Tour stage victory. Leopold Konig did the honors for the German squad. The Czech rider overtook Igor Anton (Euskaltel-Euskadi) in the last km to win Stage 8 of the 2013 Vuelta a Espana, a 166.6-km ride from Jerez de la Frontera to Alto de Penas Blancas, in 4:09:46. Daniel Moreno (Katusha) finished second at 0:01, and Nicolas Roche (Saxo Bank-Tinkoff) took third at 0:05. Roche’s placing was good enough to take the red jersey from Vincenzo Nibali (Astana).
the overall, Roche leads Horner and Moreno by 0:17. Stage 9 could alter the standings again. The 163.7-km ride from Antequera to Valdepenas de Jaen will feature the Category 2 Alto de los Frailes and a tough uncategorized ascent to the finish.
