Dave's Dogmatic Dribbles
Tour de France - Stage 1.
Nothing of significance has changed but plenty was going on. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
Combine first day jitters with rain and some oil from Cippo?s hair and you got riders falling down all over the place! Mario went down as did Tyler and Phonak teammate Nicolas Jalabert. Eisel was busy talking to his team car and flopped hard after touching wheels with another rider. He tried to erase the embarrassment by being first at a sprint hotspot.
In an interview immediately after Stage 1 finish, Tyler Hamilton told Roadcycling.com that it ?was better than last year? . I would think no broken bones is certainly better! <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>
Kirsipuu had a marvelous sprint to win the stage while Cancellara?s honorable effort kept him in yellow. McGee was suffering from something. Let?s hope we don?t loose him.
It was strange to see Lance in green and I couldn?t remember if he had worn it before. Luckily, Paul Sherwin is doing the broadcast instead of me and reminded us that he indeed wore it in 2000 when he finished second in the time trial.
Beware, this is only stage 1 of the Tour de France and I have just begun to dribble!
