Bilbao Extends Contract with Team Bahrain-Victorious

Pello Bilbao has extended his contract with the Bahrain-Victorious team following his stage victory in Tour de France

Following Pello Bilbao’s victory in stage 10 of Tour de France 2023 the Bahrain-Victorious team today announced the Basque rider has extended his contract with the team through the 2025 season.

Bilbao won the stage in a two-man sprint against Georg Zimmermann and thereby added to his impressive palmares, which includes stage victories in the Giro d’Italia (2019), Tour of the Alps (2018, 2021, 2022), Criterium du Dauphine (2018), Tour Down Under (2023), Tour of the Basque Country (2022), and the Deutschland Tour (2022). In addition to his talent for stage victories, Bilbao has also finished ninth in the 2021 Tour de France and fifth in the general classifications of two editions of the Giro d’Italia.

“I am thrilled to extend my contract with Team Bahrain-Victorious,” Bilbao told Roadcycling.com. “Over the past few years with the team, I have felt like a part of the family. I’m in a team where I get the full support of my teammates and staff and I’m looking forward to contributing to the team’s future successes,” Bilbao added.

33-year-old Bilbao adds experience to the Bahrain-Victorious team and has been a vital part of the team since he joined from Team Astana in 2020.

Managing Director of Bahrain-Victorious Milan Erzen explained to Roadcycling.com that Bilbao is of crucial importance to his current team.

“We are very delighted to have Pello extend his contract with us,” Erzen explained. “Bilbao’s dedication and exceptional performances on the bike have made him an invaluable rider for the team. Pello’s experience and leadership qualities have been an important part of our achievements so far and we look forward to seeing his continued growth and success in the years to come. We are proud to have him as part of our family.”
