2006 Giro d'Italia Preview
The 2006 Giro d'Italia will be a test of all-around skills for riders and teams.
season, Cunego has won the Giro del Trentino and has finished third in Liege-Bastogne-Liege. Look for the Italian climber to finish third in the Giro d?Italia.
Two other men must be looked at. The first is Gilberto Simoni (Saunier Duval). The two-time Giro champion is a great climber, and this year?s Giro will give him plenty of climbing to do. However, Simoni is a weak time trialist, which should keep him from the top step on the podium.
The second man to watch is Danilo Di Luca (Liquigas). Last year, Di Luca won the ProTour and finished fourth in the Giro without preparing specifically for it. His climbing will keep him in the race, but his mediocre time trailing will keep him from winning.
