2008 Tour de France - Stage 7

I have to admit I have no clue what’s going to happen today. My feeling is Schumacher will want his jersey back while Evans quietly finishes without losing any GC time.

The whistle blows and the flag waves. Chavanel is nowhere to be found. Maybe he finally got tired. Four racers establish a gap. One of them is Millar who keeps Garmin on the map. Team Columbia is in control of the peloton is they aren’t holding back.

A crash occurs and now we have a bunch of mini pelotons. Team CSC leads the way. As I stated earlier, I have no clue what’s going on. Here a peloton, there a peloton, everywhere a peloton! I think Columbia is still in charge. I can’t even find a racer whose last name starts with a C. Four racers, De La Fuente, Jufre, Sanchez and Nibali, have been in the lead and soon will face the last climb. It is a bit of a wall. I am getting more confused.

With 10 km to go, here comes Schumacher. I knew it all along. He wants to wear yellow. Evans, Kirchen, and even Vande Velde are in the lead group. Luis Sanchez is making an effort to claim a daily victory. He is ahead by only seconds and the peloton is breathing down his neck but he wins uncontested!

Kirchen, the jersey hog, made a deliberate effort to keep both green and yellow jerseys today. Hey, if ya got it, flaunt it!
