Team Saxo Bank-SunGard earlier today reported that it has signed a 2-year contract with Belgian rider Nick Nuyens who, according to the team, will be of great importance in the Team Saxo Bank-SunGard line-up and roster for the 2011 spring classics, including the 2011 Paris-Roubaix and the 2011 Tour of Flanders.
"On several occasions, Nick (Nuyens) has demonstrated his abilities in the spring classics and he will be a good fit for the team when we take on the cobblestone races in Belgium and France next spring. With a solid and loyal team behind him, he is a dark horse in terms of reaching the top spot on the podium during the classics where he will be our leader," Team Saxo Bank-SunGard owner Bjarne Riis commented.
Nick Nuyens has previously won Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, Omloop Het Volk and Paris-Brussels. In 2008 he was second in the Ronde van Vlaandern.
