Cervelo TestTeam Teams Up with Quarq

By Thomas Valentinsen
Dec 10, 2008 - 8:30:27 AM

Cervelo TestTeam has added Quarq Technology to its line of team sponsors.

Quarq will supply the men and women's Cervelo TestTeams with bicycle data systems, including Quarq's new CinQo Saturn power sensor. The Quarq CinQo is a crankset based power measurement system and has raised the bar in ease of use, durability and weight.

"I set out three years ago to build a world class power measurement system", commented James Meyer Quarq founder and engineer. "Our involvement with Cervelo TestTeam is a testament to how far we have come and is the perfect environment for us to further pursue this goal."

"We are excited to announce our sponsorship of Cervelo TestTeam in 2009.  We will supply CinQos for all the training and racing bikes for both the men's and women's teams.  Cervelo TestTeam is a natural fit for us, given the parallel heritage of Cervelo and Quarq - both companies are engineer founded, owned and operated.    The team will be a great opportunity for us to push our products to the limit and will drive our research and development," added Meyer.

Meyer is excited about the future improvements that will stem from the TestTeam effort. "Historically power meters are fickle devices. Pro cycling teams need a simple, robust and accurate power measurement solution.I think the CinQo is a great solution and I have no doubt that it will get even better from our involvement with the TestTeam."

"Any fact-based engineering effort requires data," says Gerard Vroomen, co-founder of Cervelo, "Quarq is an important piece of that puzzle and we are pleased to have them on board."
