The Luxembourg cycling federation says Tour de France runner-up Andy Schleck will miss next month's road cycling World Championships 2010 in Australia.

Schleck, 25, will instead concentrate on his participation in the Spanish Vuelta a Espana 2010 starting Saturday through to September 19 and his preparation for Italy's Tour of Lombardy on October 16.

The 2010 road cycling world championships will be held in Melbourne and nearby Geelong from September 29 to October 3.

The Luxembourg federation posted an announcement on its website Tuesday saying Schleck had ruled himself out of the national team for the Worlds.
