May 30, 2010 - Fuerstenfeldbruck, Bavaria, Germany - epa02180164 Danish Alex Rasmussen (C) of Team Saxo Bank and German Gerald Ciolek (R) of Team Milram during the final stage of the International Tour of Bavaria cycling race in Fuerstenfeldbruck, Germany, 30 May 2010. Rasmussen placed third in the final stage, Ciolek placed fourth in the stage. The final stage of this year's Tour of Bavaria covered 156,6km from Berching to Fuerstenfeldbruck. Belgian Maxime Monfort won the overall ranking of the race.

Four Time World Track Champion and talented sprinter from Denmark Alex Rasmussen will join Team HTC-Columbia in 2011 after a successful season on the track and the road in 2010. Rasmussen won his fourth Track World Title earlier this year and went on to win two stages in Dunkirk, a stage in Ruta del Sol, and the Herning Grand Prix - all while riding for Bjarne Riis' Team Saxo Bank.

"I decided to make the move to HTC-Columbia because I still have a lot to learn as a sprinter," Alex Rasmussen told Roadcycling.com and added "I believe I can develop a lot on this team that has a history of good sprinters. I'm also looking forward to working with sport director Brian Holm."

HTC-Columbia Team Manager Rolf Aldag commented "I have known Alex for quite a long time as I raced against him in some six day races at the track. He was very young then but he always impressed me with his pure power. His victory in the Ruta del Sol time trial ahead of Bradley Wiggins, Tony Martin and Michael Rogers really caught my attention.

"I believe he can be an important part in our sprinting department as well as very competitive in time trials. There are a lot results to come for Alex if he gets the right support," Aldag believes.
