Karsten Kroon, who crashed in yesterday's 2010 Fleche Wallonne won by teammate and world champion Cadel Evans, was able to join the BMC Racing Team for its celebratory dinner yesterday evening. Kroon was injured in a crash with approximately 70 kilometers to go in yesterday's race.

The injuries to Kroon's face are primarily contained to his right side. "His face is extremely swollen and his eye is totally closed," BMC Racing Team Director John Lelangue commented.

"We will need a few days for the swelling to go down. Then we will see how things will go. We'll definitely give him time to recover and come back to a normal level."

Kroon spent the night in the team hotel and is heading home to his family today in order to give him the optimum conditions to recover from his injuries and the terrible chock that he has experienced.
