Dave's Dogmatic Tour de France Dribbles

2009 Tour de France - Stage 10.

Hello? Can you hear me? Is this thing on? What do you mean there aren’t any radios today? Maybe Johan could circulate a petition to boycott the stage. Oh, he did that already and only the French teams refused to sign. Go figure.

I’m not surprised to see the French assert their independence. After all, it is Bastille Day in France. Happy fourteenth of July! Maybe Voeckler can get another stage win for mother France. He’s not in the lead group with Dumoulin, Ignatiev, Vaugrenard and Hupond. They aren’t that far ahead hovering in the three minute lead range.

Let’s listen in to what they’re saying.
.............. ........... .................. ................ ...... .............. .... ... ......... ......... ................ ............... ............ ........... . .................... ............ ........ ............. .......... .................. ............ ............. ........ ................ ....... ........ ... ... ... ..... ......... .. ..... ...... . ...... .. ..... ... ... .... ..... .... .... .... .. ... .....

I’ve never heard of such a thing! What’s that? No radios. Let me fill you in. The four leaders were asking if Cavendish was still in the race since he hasn’t been seen in a while. The response was, not to worry; he’ll be by soon enough.

As we speak, Columbia-HTC is powering up and is assembling their lead out team. Cavendish gets a beautiful setup and wins. All Thor can do is watch from second place. Somehow I get the feeling they aren’t close friends. Thor was out muscled. I think Cavendish is the better sprinter but Thor may be a better racer overall.

We’ll probably be able to see them battle it out the next couple days. Better yet, we can hear what’s going on as the race returns to the 21st century.
