World champion Cadel Evans (Team BMC Racing), Carlos Sastre and Thor Hushovd (Cervelo TestTeam) are enjoying a day off from the 2010 Tour de France Monday in Morzine. Roadcycling.com has compiled rest day quotes and comments from all three riders.

World Champion Cadel Evans:

How was your first night in yellow?

"For me personally, getting the yellow jersey at the Tour is always something special. To swap the rainbow jersey for the yellow jersey is a rare honor that I have had the honor to experience. But also for the team and all the work we've put in together - not just for the Tour - but everyone who has been involved in building up the BMC Racing Team, it's a nice reward. I walked down to the dinner table last night with the yellow jersey and gave it to Jacques Michaud (BMC Racing Team Assistant Director), whose birthday it was. I think he was happy to see that."

You were implicated in a crash in stage 8. How is your body?

"I have a very sore left arm. But the legs are still going. That's the important thing. It's a little bit uncomfortable right now, but hopefully by tomorrow it will come around. With another good night's sleep, I should be all right."

What is your rest day program?

"I'm going to try and take it as easy as possible and do a lot of physical therapy on the left arm."

2008 Tour de France champion Carlos Sastre:

How is your condition now and how has it been during the first week of the 2010 Tour de France?

"I was good enough to be with the leaders (Sunday). There was a lot of anticipation for the stage. No one knew what to expect. The first week was full of tension, a lot of crashes, heat, wind. I am tranquil. This Tour is just beginning. I don't have any pain, either from my back problems from the Giro or from my crash on the cobbles. I am most content about this."

What are your expectations for the rest of the 2010 Tour?

"I have not set any definitive objectives for this Tour. I am enjoying the race from a different point of view this year. I am taking it day by day. This Tour is going to be one of resistance. If it stays hot, the Pyrénées are going to be a barbarity. If I have the opportunity, I will try something, but I haven't made any specific plan. I wasn't even sure I was going to be able to start the Tour."

What is your take on the favorites for the overall 2010 Tour de France victory?

"This is the first Tour in a long time where there are so many favorites from so many teams with options to win. It's very wide open. Andy Schleck proved he's the most explosive right now, I don't know if he's the strongest. Cadel Evans is very strong psychologically. It will be very hard to take the yellow jersey away from him."

July 11, 2010 - Station Des Rousses, FRANCE - epa02244745 Cervelo team rider Thor Hushovd of Norway awaits the start of the eighth stage of the 97th Tour de France 2010 cycling race between Station Des Rousses and Morzine-Avoriaz, France, 10 July 2010.

Thor Hushovd:

Describe your Tour so far..

"I won a stage and I have the green jersey, so it's been a fine start to this Tour. If I win the green jersey, I will be even happier. If not, I am still very happy with this Tour because I won the stage on the cobblestones. I lost a few points in some of the sprints, but I think I will be stronger in the final week. I haven't sprinted for nearly two months for my broken collarbone, so I am not in top speed, but I am getting better."

Do you expect to take part in a breakaway in the mountains like you did in last year's Tour?

"That was the first time I tried something like that. I think that was an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It would be very hard to repeat it this year. Actually, it's almost impossible."

Well, we expect to see you do it again Thor :-) We need great experiences like that from real men like you!
